We start the second term

Our first meeting this Friday started off with some sad news. For the last two years our club was run by Afri-Oceans, a non-profit organization. Afri-Oceans has been the driving force behind all our activities, but sadly they will not be running their program at our school anymore (at least for now).

As a non-profit, they rely on public funding and are now experiencing a shortfall. Sadly, they will not be returning to our school for the next few weeks. We are really hoping that they secure more funding soon. They are a terrific organization and their educational initiatives have had a tremendous impact on schools around the Western Cape.

Saying that, our club is not without a purpose or work to do. We have a few environmental projects on the go at school, thanks to Eco-Schools, an organization run by WESSA. We registered as an eco-school last year and won our first award for our paper recycling project. We are very excited to be continuing with our eco-school's activities, which will be the main focus of our eco-club for the coming term.

So watch this space to see what we get up to this term!
